The word, leaven, appears twenty-three times in twenty Scripture texts, enough to warrant our attention. It is a translation of the Greek, zume (Strong’s G2219), from a root meaning to ferment; the Hebrew word is matstsah (H4682), meaning sweetness.
I believe that we have lost our awareness of the power and majesty of the God we serve and worship. Dr. J.I. Packer in his book “Knowing God” says that majesty refers to greatness and respect, as in our respect for Her Majesty the Queen.
