A Man Of Substance
A few years ago I watched the building of some apartments on my way to visit a friend in my lunch breaks. It amazed me to see that the interior walls were just boards with a bit of soundproofing in between. Even the chimney pots on the roofs were imitation. Likewise, a previous house we rented in Somerset, though very comfortable, had interior walls that were boards rather than brick or block. This caused me to think how this reflects the state of our world today. There is no solidity to anything. Everything is shallow and of no substance.
Take the internet and the world wide web (I wish someone would!) – it is just ‘pie in the sky’. There is nothing there. If the power supply were suddenly cut, never to be returned, where would all that information stored in cyberspace be? Nowhere – it doesn’t exist. The same is true of vast amounts of money that show on bank transactions – does it really exist, or is it just an amount printed on paper?
Take the television. A few years ago, here in the UK we had only 3 channels, BBC1 and 2 and ITV, and in those days you had programmes that were worth watching. Proper television series that, whether comedy or serious, nevertheless had a story, and what is more there was no swearing, vulgarity or violence. In fact many of the TV programmes had a moral to them, or were inspiring. This is seldom true any more. Most of what is shown on the countless TV channels that digital TV has enabled, are chat shows, game shows, endless cookery programmes and others that again are of no substance. The only saving grace comes from some of the repeats of programmes from the ‘good old days’. And even they are repeated so often that you grow weary of them. It is rare to get anything worth watching.
Even the new versions of some of our old favourite stories are perverted or adapted to make them politically/sexually/racially ‘correct’. And much that is created for young minds has to be fast moving, with no proper basis to the story, just so as to keep their attention – because apparently their attention span is very short these days…!
Politicians and other bodies that are responsible for our well being, our health and even our very lives, are unable to give straight answers when things go wrong (and even when they don’t), and nobody now will take responsibility for their actions. We have no proper leader, whether of Church or State. No one to stand up and say this is wrong, or this is right. No one of any substance.
Is this what is meant by the term ‘lukewarm’? In this world where all is so shallow that we exist like ghosts, because we are so transient – where no one has the backbone to stand up and be counted – no one in authority anyway. There is certainly no one with any fire, unafraid to stand up and condemn the wickedness and perversion that abound today.
“So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness does not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eye salve, that thou mayest see….”. So says Our Lord Jesus Christ – now THERE is a Man of Substance! (Rev;3 v16 – 18)
The Word of God is our rock, our basis, our substance – all that is not of Him will fade and die as the grass. Until we realise this and put our Faith and Trust not in earthly things but in HIM, we and our society will also fade and die likewise. Without Almighty God, without Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, we are ghosts, for we are nothing. Now more than ever, we Israel Nations must turn back to Him before it is too late.
Our people have become blinded and thus easily led astray. The enemy has slunk in to our lands and taken control, and now we seem unable to put right all that has gone wrong. Our world is like an old negative unprocessed film. Faded and without the vigour and strength that used to be there. This is because we are not animated by the Holy Spirit, but are in the shadowlands of confusion and dismay. It is time to wake up, and call upon the LORD. I believe that some folk are awakening, and we need to pray for them. Pray for our people, pray for our Israelite lands. We have to remember that the Lord is there – waiting to be called upon for His people. Things seem dire, our identities are being erased by the enemy who re write our history and replace Truth with falsehoods. But we do not have to let it continue. Truly, whilst the battle is not ours, we can still do our bit, and awaken people to who they are when the opportunity arises, share our BI knowledge – get them thinking. And above all, ASK the Lord to help us. He is there waiting – waiting for us to call upon HIM.
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me.”
Amen to that – Come Lord Jesus.
