The Battle Is The Lord’s

When you read the above chapter in Samuel you cannot but admire the faith of David. It was so strong that he knew that God would be with him in his battle with Goliath, because he also knew it was the Lord’s battle and he used David as his warrior to fight the battle. This is amazing. When you read this chapter you realize that we have nothing to fear if we are on the Lord’s side and we should be ready to help Him in whatever battle He calls us to fight with Him. 1Sam. 17:45 says, “Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied”. He came to fight the battle with the Lord God and did not need a sword, spear or shield to protect him because he had the protection of the Lord God. We must take these words to heart and realize that no weapon formed against us can prosper if we are living with the Lord and have His protection, “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.” (Isa. 54:17) As this verse says we will only have this protection if we are on the Lord’s side and not the world’s side.
We are living in the times just before the Lord’s return and we know that these times will not be easy as we are being controlled by the spirit of darkness and this group of people who are against our Lord and Saviour. I just listened to a very good talk by someone about King’s Charles’ Christmas Speech – A Declaration of War and how bad it was. You can find it on YouTube. King Charles speech was very disappointing, and it was so clear that he is completely separated from the people he rules over as King. He talked about peace of course but everyone’s peace totally disregarding what Jesus says about peace. Here is a comment that someone made in the comments following the video, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27 KJV The Lord did not promise peace to the world, but He did promise peace to His own people. This person is right, there can only be true peace when you are His people and living with Him. Another comment was, “My worst fears when I learned of the Queen’s passing have come to pass! When I listened to King Charles’ speech, I was so stunned I couldn’t even cry-I sat in shock! God help England!” She is right. It was a shocking speech and one that his mother Queen Elizabeth would never have given! We must pray for King Charles and the Royal Family as they are God’s representatives here on earth and will be held accountable when the Lord returns. They must turn to the Lord.
Here we are today living in this world of spiritual darkness which is hard to ignore because it is so prevalent and in our face all the time. But we must put on the armour of God that protects us from these evil ones and not be deceived as so many are today. Heed these instructions from Eph. 6:11-17, “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:”.
These are serious times and we cannot be living our lives without a firm foundation in the Lord. Remember the words of Matthew 7:24-25, “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.” And that rock is Jesus Christ! Leave this worldly battle in the Lord’s hands as He is in control, and we know He will win in the end. Amen.
