In the world that we live in today, with all its mechanical gadgets, it is not easy to enjoy a moment of silence. Whether we are at home or on the street, at work, or at a sporting event, silence has by and large become a thing of the past.
When Jesus was born, other than the fact that His birth was foretold more than seven hundred years before it happened, very few people realized what had taken place.
Some thirty-five hundred years ago God made a Covenant, a contract if you will, with a people that He selected to be a servant nation unto Himself.
In each of the four Gospels and in the first chapter of Acts we read where Christ commissions His disciples to spread the Gospel to all men and in all parts of the earth.
Still, a further question remains. The Bible states that the Lord God rested on the seventh day. So, which God rested at that time? Was it the Supreme God of the Universe, God the Father, was it the God of creation, God the Son or was it both?
It is really remarkable, this Jewish reluctance, for they held in their possession the oracles of God. They had the law and the books of Moses, they possessed the writings of the Prophets, which spoke of the coming Messiah, and they were in control of the Temple, yet with all that, they vehemently rejected Jesus Christ, the Anointed of God.
The first item is a statement rather than a question. One reader wrote, according to Eph. 2:6, it’s his understanding that some Christian believers have already gone to Heaven prior to the return of our Lord.
“I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Marvellous are thy works, and that my soul knoweth real well.” (Psa. 139:14). You know, David was not the only one that could utter these words, for we all who are of the stock of Adam, through Seth and Shem to Abraham and ultimately to Jacob-Israel, are made in the image and likeness of God.
First, let us look at Isa. 45:7 that reads, “I form light, and create darkness; I make peace, and create evil; I, the Lord do all these things.”
Whereas our forbearers crossed their Sea of Reeds by the miraculous Hand of God, led by Moses, went across on dry ground, leading their flocks and driving their herds of cattle, we on the other hand are being driven across our virtual Sea of Red Tape as cattle being led to the slaughter.
