It’s All About Jesus

“And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing. And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever.”

Revelation 5:11-14

We have here before us an awesome scene.

The imagery of Revelation chapters four and five is ripe with symbolism, types and shadows, but what leaps out at me is the fact that our Lord Jesus Christ is the center of everything. 

“… Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me.” Psalm 40:7

In Genesis, He is the Seed of the Woman. In Exodus, He is the Passover Lamb, the Manna from Heaven and the Rock that gave us streams of water in the wilderness. In Leviticus, He is all of the offerings and sacrifices, and every Feast. In Numbers, He is the Cloud by day and the Fire by night, and He is the Brazen Serpent our ancestors looked to and were healed. In Deuteronomy, He is our City of Refuge and the Prophet like unto Moses. In Joshua, He is the Captain of our Salvation and the Commander of the hosts of Heaven. He is the One who brings down the walls that keep us from God’s blessings and the One who leads us into the Promised Land! In Judges, He is the Judge and Lawgiver. In Ruth, He is our Kinsman Redeemer. In Samuel, He is the Prophet of The Lord Most High. In Kings, He is the King of Israel, the bread that is multiplied to meet our every need and the Waters of the Jordan that cleanses every stain. In Chronicles, He is the Son of David who reigns eternally. In Ezra, He is the Faithful Scribe. In Nehemiah, He is the Rebuilder of the broken down walls of empty religion. In Esther, He is both the Mediator and Protector of God’s people. In Job, He is the Dayspring from on High. In Psalms, He is our Shepherd, and our Song in the night. He is the Stone which the builders rejected, and the Word that is a light unto our path. In Proverbs and Ecclesiastes, He is Wisdom. In the Song of Solomon, He is the lover of my soul. In Isaiah, He is the despised and rejected Saviour. He is the Wonderful counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace and GOD WITH US! In Jeremiah, He is the righteous Branch. In Lamentations, He is the weeping Prophet. In Ezekiel, He is the wonderful four faced Man and the Wheel within the wheel. In Daniel, He is the fourth man in the fiery furnace. In Hosea, He is the faithful husband forever married to the backslider. In Joel, He is the Baptizer in the Holy Ghost. In Amos, He is our Burden Bearer. In Obadiah, He is the LORD mighty to save. In Jonah, He is the Great Missionary and the Forgiving God. In Micah, He is the Messiah born in Bethlehem whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. In Nahum, He is the Avenger of God’s Elect. In Habakkuk, He is the Great Evangelist, crying for revival. In Zephaniah, He is the Restorer of God’s lost heritage. In Haggai, He is the cleansing Fountain. In Zechariah, He is the pierced Son and the Fountain opened up in the House of David for sin and uncleanness. In Malachi, He is the Sun of Righteousness, risen with healing in His wings.

In Matthew, He is the Messiah. In Mark, He is the Miracle Worker. In Luke, He is the Son of man, the Horn of Salvation and the Consolation of Israel. In John, He is the only begotten Son of God and the Lamb of God. He is the Bread of life, the Light of the world, and the Great I AM! He is the Good Shepherd and the Door of the Sheep. He is the Resurrection and Life. He is the Way, the Truth, the Life and He is the true Vine. In Acts, He is the ascended Lord, the just One, the Prince of Life, the Judge of the living and the dead, and the HOPE of ISRAEL. In Romans, He is the Justifier, the Rock of Offense, the Lord of the dead and the living and the Root of Jesse. In Corinthians, He is the Last Adam and all of the Gifts of the Spirit. In Galatians, He is the One who sets us FREE. In Ephesians, He is the Christ of Riches, the Head of the church and the Chief cornerstone. In Philippians, He is the God Who is our joy and meets our every need. In Colossians, He is the Fullness of The Godhead bodily, the very image of the invisible God and the Hope of Glory. In Thessalonians, He is our soon coming King. In Timothy, He is the only mediator between God and man. In Titus, He is the Blessed Hope, and our Great God and Saviour. In Philemon, He is our benefactor, and the Friend that sticks closer than a brother. In Hebrews, He is the Heir of all things, our great High Priest, and the Author and Finisher of our Faith. In James, He is the Great Physician and the Lord of Glory. In Peter, He is the Living Stone and the Chief Shepherd. In John’s epistles, He is everlasting Love. In Jude, He is the Only Wise God our Saviour. In Revelation, He is the Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last, the conquering Lion of the Tribe of Judah, the bright and morning Star, and He is KING OF KINGS AND THE LORD OF LORDS! 

The whole Bible is about Jesus, and He is called, “The Word of God” (Revelation 19:13). And we are instructed to make God’s Word the center of our very lives:

“Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes. And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt write them upon the door posts of thine house, and upon thy gates.” Deuteronomy 11:18-20

Jesus was called Emmanuel, the manifestation of God with us. The multitudes said of Him, “Never spake man like this man!” He is the Tabernacle in the wilderness — He is seen in every utensil and every object — and where was that Tabernacle? It was in the center of the camp, with the tribes of Israel encamped round about. Likewise, our lives, our thoughts, our desires should all revolve around our Lord Jesus Christ.

We keep ourselves busy with all kinds of things that don’t matter at all, and we will argue about the most insignificant of things — but in the end, all of it will vanish away, and the only thing that will be left of any value will be our Lord Jesus Christ.

He said, “I AM Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.” He was before all, and He will still be there in the end, and He is everything in between. And in Him all things consist.

It’s all about Him.

There is an old saying that used to appear on small framed pictures at the five and dime, which goes, “Only one life, soon will be past, only what’s done for Christ will last.”

Let us stop filling our lives with things that don’t matter, and look at the big picture. 

“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.” Ecclesiastes 12:13-14
