Canada Post Strike

Due to the ongoing Canada Post strike, which shows no signs of resolution, we have made all issues of the TKC Magazine available on our website, including those up to December 2024. Normally, we are two months behind on publishing the magazine to the website because we like our readers to appreciate the print version first. However, due to these special circumstances, we have expedited the process. You can click here to view the 2024 editions.

Please remember to direct all mail and correspondence to our Canadian address.

Hold Fast the Profession of Our Faith

“Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering . . .”
Hebrews 10:23

One of the saddest things about living at this point in history is the lack of backbone that is evident among God’s people today.

In the above passage of Scripture, we are exhorted to hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering, yet so many of God’s people today buckle under the weight of public scrutiny. If the truth happens to be unpopular or politically incorrect — which is often the case — they keep silent in order to avoid criticism. This, in turn, makes it even more difficult for those who actually have the courage to speak.

It’s not like the old days, when the Bible was taught in the schools and public sentiment was decidedly Christian. Today, sound Bible doctrine offends the average person. Consequently, a growing number of God’s people no longer think the Bible should be the standard by which we live because, they reason, it would offend the masses. In wanting to accept people of all faiths and lifestyles, many of God’s people, whether they realize it or not, have essentially become anti-Christian.

But, we cannot let public opinion or the spirit of the age silence us or keep us from standing for what is right. We must hold forth the light of God’s Word — uncompromised — regardless of popular opinion.

Our Lord said “No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light.” Luke 8:16

A candle is not very noticeable in the daylight when all is bright, but the darker it gets, the more noticeable the candle becomes — and the more necessary it becomes — and it is in the deepest darkness that a candle seems to shine the brightest. It really isn’t any brighter than at any other time, but it seems that way because the darkness is so prevalent.

My fellow kinsmen, if there was ever a dark time in our history, this is certainly one of the darkest. And if you have the courage to speak the truth, you will definitely be noticed, and will very likely be criticized or even persecuted. But the alternative is unacceptable.

I exhort the reader to not be silent, but to be that shining light. If the true religion offends modern men, so be it. We do not wish to be unpleasant or abrasive towards anyone, but neither can we cower in fear and silence ourselves in order to put the worldly and the ungodly at ease. Quite the contrary! How can one repent except he be convicted of sin? And how can one feel convicted of sin if the Word of God has been compromised or is not even preached at all?

Sin is still sin, and every man is still in need of the Saviour. If we compromise the Word of God or keep silent in order not to offend, what will become of the vast number of folks out there who have yet to repent and call upon the Name of the Saviour?

Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering, and, in so doing, with God’s help, hopefully lead men and women out of the darkness and into the light.
