God’s Peace
I find these verses very comforting in this world of lies, violence, wars and rumors of wars, etc. If you listen to the news media or watch anything online you will find very little that is positive or uplifting. The current movies, TV shows, video games, etc. all have some form of violence or darkness in them. Where do we find our peace in a world filled with such darkness and chaos? We can only find it in the peace of God. We cannot find this peace in the world we live in today. These words in Jer. 6:10-14 warn us “To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of theLordis unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.Therefore, I am full of the fury of theLord; I am weary with holding in: I will pour it out upon the children abroad, and upon the assembly of young men together: for even the husband with the wife shall be taken, the aged with him that is full of days. And their houses shall be turned unto others, with their fields and wives together: for I will stretch out my hand upon the inhabitants of the land, saith theLord. For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them everyone is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely. They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.” Jer. 8:10-12 also repeats this, “Therefore will I give their wives unto others, and their fields to them that shall inherit them: for every one from the least even unto the greatest is given to covetousness, from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely. For they have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace. Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore shall they fall among them that fall: in the time of their visitation they shall be cast down, saith theLord.” Eze. 13:10&16 also repeats this, “Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying, Peace; and there was no peace; and one built up a wall, and, lo, others daubed it with untempered morter:…To wit, the prophets of Israel which prophesy concerning Jerusalem, and which see visions of peace for her, and there is no peace, saith the Lord.”
Most all of our leaders and those in authority today appear to practice outright lies and deceit. They try to cover up what is really happening and therefore are denying the judgment that will surely come. Our world is full of sin, but people today do not want to hear that, they want to hear good news. How can we give them good news when they have turned their backs on God and don’t want to hear His Word. They want to hear the words of the false prophets. Jesus said in John 14:27-29, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.” If Jesus said it then we must believe it. When will our Israel nations wake up and realize that they will never have peace in this fallen world that Satan rules with his evil supporters. Psa. 109:1-3;26-31speaks of their punishment, “Hold not thy peace, O God of my praise; For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful are opened against me: they have spoken against me with a lying tongue. They compassed me about also with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause….Help me, OLordGod: O save me according to thy mercy:That they may know that this is thy hand; that thou,Lord, hast done it.Let them curse, but bless thou: when they arise, let them be ashamed; but let thy servant rejoice.Let mine adversaries be clothed with shame, and let them cover themselves with their own confusion, as with a mantle.I will greatly praise theLordwith my mouth; yea, I will praise him among the multitude. For he shall stand at the right hand of the poor, to save him from those that condemn his soul.” I leave you with this blessing from Heb. 13:20-21, “Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.”
