With God All Things Are Possible
Matthew 19:26
“With God all things are possible.”
Have you ever felt overwhelmed? When facing the circumstances in your life, and in the world around you, do you feel like a grasshopper next to a giant, or a mountain climber facing Mount Everest? Perhaps you feel like giving up.
If you are discouraged and feel like giving up, I want to encourage you today. God is there, He cares, and even though you can’t necessarily see it, He is working all these things together for good. Don’t give up, press on.
Your situation may seem overwhelming, but I tell you in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ that if you will trust God and honor Him with your life, you are going to make it through. God can do anything, and He will always honor those who honor Him.
In the third chapter of the Book of Daniel we read about Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. King Nebuchadnezzar had made a decree that everyone in the land had to bow down and worship the idol that he had made, but Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego would not bow. They had their own God — the God of Israel — and they were not going to dishonour Him by bowing down to an idol. For this, they were threatened with certain death in a burning fiery furnace, but they stood firm. They said…
“O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. BUT IF NOT, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.” Daniel 3:16-18
They were true to their God and honoured Him before the king even though it meant certain death. And so, they were cast into a furnace that was so hot, the men who threw them into it died from the heat. But, as we all know, a remarkable miracle happened — they did not burn, and neither did their clothes. The Bible says they did not even smell of smoke, for the LORD was with them in the fire. He had seen their faith. He knew they had put their lives on the line for Him, and that whether or not He saved them, they were not going to bow to any other god. They honored God, and He honored them.
In these dark and evil days, no matter what your circumstance, no matter how fearful it may be, honor God with your life, and trust Him with the outcome. He will always honour those who honour Him.
“Wherefore the Lord God of Israel saith . . . them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed [ or, literally, shall be despised ].” 1 Samuel 2:30
