What Should We Preach?

What should we preach to the world in the Israel Truth movement? We believe we are called to a certain task by the Lord, to announce to the world certain truths. What is our calling? Has it been stated by a divine voice or vision? I have never had such a vision, but perhaps you have.

I have reasoned things out by the Bible about our calling. We are made up of para-church organizations, meaning we supply a need to the Christian community that the church in general does not. Looking at what the Bible says, I believe the Israel Truth movement deals with the identity of the lost tribes of Israel and the preaching of the Law from the Old Testament. Also, because we know the true identity of the Anglo Saxon and kindred people, we can interpret prophecy in ways that the church in general cannot understand. So, to sum up, we preach Identity, Law, and Prophetic Interpretation.

For Identity we rely on the Bible and secular history. I believe we are united in these endeavours. We always have minor disagreements, but most of us agree on the scriptures we use to prove our identity. Also, there is a wealth of research in secular history sources that we use.

For Prophetic Interpretation we have differences of opinion, but we believe the Anglo Saxon and kindred people will make up the Kingdom of God under the rulership of King Jesus. And He will rule the Earth, not just Heaven. Small differences of opinion on prophecy exist in the Israel Truth movement. For instance, some of us believe Ezekiel chapters 38 and 39 involve the invasion of North America in the final battle before the return of Christ. Others believe the battle will only be in the Middle East. However, I assume we all believe the Anglo-Saxon and kindred people will be involved in war against our enemies before the return of Christ.

For preaching the Law, we do not follow the practices of most churches. We believe most churches have ignored God’s Laws from the Old Testament. That is because they do not believe we are Israelites. So, they teach that we are Gentiles and the New Testament is for us, while the Old Testament is for the Jews. Most of their preaching is from the New Testament, and they almost ignore the Old Testament. Jesus spoke of preserving and fulfilling the Law and the Prophets (Matthew 5:17). We believe that, and we preach both the Law and the Prophets.

In the books of the Law in the Bible (the first five books), Israel was told to keep the Statutes, the Judgements, the Commandments, and the Covenant in the Law (Leviticus 26:15-16). Here is the problem. Many of the Statutes and Judgements do not apply to our society today because of the work of Christ in dying on the cross and rising again to give us new life. And the Old Covenant does not apply to Christians because we have God’s Commandments written on our hearts. We have a New Covenant, with the Holy Spirit indwelling each of us.

 Let us look at the Judgement upon homosexual people and adulterers in the Law. It says they should be put to death (Leviticus 20: 10,13). The problem in Moses’ time was the Israelites could not deal with the spiritual aspect of sexual acts. Sexual connections are spiritual, not just physical. The people in the Old Testament could not deal with that, so they just eliminated the people involved in those two sexual acts. However, today because of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, people can deal with all sexual acts outside of marriage. Thousands of homosexual people, adulterers, fornicators and others involved in what the Bible calls sexual sin have come to faith in Christ and have given up their sexual acts that were contrary to the Bible. They testify to the peace and joy they have experienced in living their new lives in obedience to the teachings of Jesus Christ. God has become their new-found Father in a love relationship.

Let us look at the Judgement of the woman with the jealous husband (Numbers 5:11-31). She had to drink holy water that had the dust of the temple mixed into it. If her stomach swelled and her thigh rotted after that, she was guilty of adultery and would be cursed and rejected by all the people of the nation. If her stomach did not swell and her thigh did not rot, she would be innocent and would be blessed by the Lord. Do any Israel Truth preachers want to preach that Judgement? Today, because of Jesus Christ dying on the cross, and rising to new life, we Christians have the Holy Spirit in us to alert us to anything that interferes with our marriages. We do not need any holy water or dust from any temple. In all my years as a Christian, I have only known one Christian man whose wife committed adultery. It seldom happens with Christian couples.

Let us look at the Statute about how Israelites were to treat other nations. They were to kill all people from the Canaanite nations – no survivors. For the nations beyond the land God promised them, they were to take those people as servants (Deuteronomy 20:10-17). That was extreme imperialism. If we did that today, many of the people in the nations we would conquer would be Christians. Christianity is in every country of the world. The most recent explosion of Christianity has been in Iran. About thirty years ago there was an explosion of Christianity in China where there were about 25,000 new Christian converts every day. If they are Christians, they are equal to us (Galatians 3:28). We are all children of God and inheritors of the Kingdom. We cannot make other Christians our servants. Therefore, that Old Testament law does not apply to our time.

Jesus Christ did not teach the Statutes or Judgements from the Old Testament, but He generally gave his approval to the Law (Matthew 5:17-18 and Matthew 23:23). Anyhow, the Romans controlled the government and discarded most of the Statutes and Judgements.

The part of the Old Testament Law that Jesus taught was the Commandments, but He even explained and modified them. He showed the rich young ruler how covetous he had become. He was breaking the tenth Commandment because he could not give up his riches (Luke 18:22-23). However, Jesus allowed Zacchaeus to keep a large portion of his wealth because he was not covetous (Luke 19:1-9). Jesus showed the Jews that it was okay to carry your bed on the Sabbath by healing a man and telling him to go his way with his bed (John 5:10-11). That was the proper way to keep the fourth Commandment. All through his ministry Jesus explained how He wanted the Commandments kept.

When Israel Truth adherents preach the Laws of God, I suggest they preach the Commandments. The Statutes and Judgements were given for the nation to execute in Old Testament times. Anyhow, we do not have any control over the laws of our Israel nations today. When Jesus Christ reigns as King, He will modify the Statutes and Judgements according to his requirements for perfection of government.
