We Reap What We Sow
“Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools. And changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.”(Rom. 1:22-25).
We look at what’s going on in the world today and say “What happened, everything seems to be falling apart?” What happened is that we abandoned God and chose to follow our worldly ways thinking that we know best. The unfortunate part of this decision is that we are causing our own destruction and along the way taking many innocent victims with us in our fall. Just as in the Garden of Eden we are choosing to believe a lie rather than the truth of God. God is truth and truth always prevails. When we abandon God and His laws and choose to live a lie we create a world that is full of destruction and chaos. Our sin brings about the moral decay that leads to destruction and our own collapse. We will receive the natural penalty that we deserve. “But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the Lord: and be sure your sin will find you out.” (Num. 32:23). There is a natural result from our sin against God and His laws.
We are denying the very laws that God gave us and wrote in our hearts. God’s laws have been there right from the beginning and Cain knew when he killed his brother Abel that he had sinned. God said to him, “And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother’s blood from thy hand.” (Gen. 4:11). When we knowingly sin it causes destruction in our hearts and if we go on sinning and try to hide it we will either harden our hearts completely or fall to our knees before Christ with our broken hearts and ask for forgiveness so we can be healed.
Our lands today are filled with sin and we are still hardening our hearts toward God and His laws and His forgiveness. If only we would fall to our knees and turn away from our wicked sin, He could heal us and our lands. He is calling us to come to Him so He can redeem and restore us. We must make this decision soon. The sin in our lands is dragging us down. We are falling rapidly and the only way God can help us is if we humble ourselves and fall before Him and ask for His mercy and forgiveness. He is our Father and wants to see us return to Him so that He can bless us. He chastises us for our own good so that we will return to Him. “And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, MY SON, DESPISE NOT THOU THE CHASTENING OF THE LORD, NOR FAINT WHEN THOU ART REBUKED OF HIM: FOR WHOM THE LORD LOVETH HE CHASTENETH, AND SCOURGETH EVERY SON WHOM HE RECEIVETH. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? …Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.” (Heb. 12:5-7,11). It will not be long before the Lord will intervene in the affairs of men to save us from all the evil in the world. We must make ourselves ready. Will we be one of the five virgins with our lamp empty or one of the five virgins with our lamp full? Fill your hearts with the Word of God and He will direct your path. “Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:” (2Peter 1:10).
Uncanny accuracy from 196
The following is text from a talk that was given by ABC commentator Paul Harvey on April 3, 1965 and I thought that his words fit my article as it explains much of what has happened to bring all of our Israel nations to our present condition. It is quite prophetic, as all the things he says could come to pass if we follow the devil have come true! It is called “If I Were The Devil”.
“If I were the Prince of Darkness I would want to engulf the whole world in darkness and I’d have a third of its real estate and four fifths of its population but I wouldn’t be happy till I had seized the ripest apple on the tree, thee (USA), so I’d set about however necessary to take over the United States I’d subvert the churches first, then with a campaign of whispers with the wisdom of a serpent I would whisper to you as I whispered to Eve, do as you please. To the young I would whisper that the Bible is a myth, I would convince them that man created God instead of the other way around. I would comply that what’s bad is good and what’s good is square and to the old I would teach them to pray “our father which are in Washington”. And then I’d get organized. I’d educate authors in how to make lurid literature exciting so that anything else is boring and uninteresting. I’d threaten TV with dirtier movies and vice versa. I’d peddle narcotics to whom I could. I would sell alcohol to ladies and gentlemen of distinction and tranquilize the rest with pills. If I were the devil I’d soon have families at war with themselves, churches at war with themselves and nations at war with themselves, until each in its turn was consumed and with promises of higher ratings I’d have mesmerizing media fanning the flames. If I were the devil I’d encourage schools to refine young intellects but neglect to discipline emotions, just let them run wild until before you knew it you would have to have metal detectors and drug sniffing dogs at every door. Within a decade I’d have prisons overflowing, judges promoting pornography. Soon I could evict God from the courthouse then from the schoolhouse and then from the Houses of Congress and in His own churches I would substitute psychology for religion and deify science. I would lure priests and pastors into misusing boys and girls and church money. If I were the devil I’d make the symbol of Easter an egg and the symbol of Christmas a bottle. If I were the devil I’d take from those that have and give to those that want it until I had killed the incentive of the ambitious and what do you bet I couldn’t get whole states to promote gambling as the way to get rich. I would caution against extremes and hard work and patriotism and moral conduct. I would convince you that marriage is old fashioned. That swinging is more fun. That what you see on TV is the way to be and thus I could undress you in public and I could lure you into bed with diseases for which there is no cure. In other words if I were the devil I would just keep on doing what he’s doing.”
