Tracing our Israelite Ancestors
King Solomon’s Throne
Most people think King Solomon’s Throne was in the Holy Land. Yes, it was in Jerusalem. But did you know there is another King Solomon’s Throne on the Afghanistan and Pakistan border? There is a mountain range along the Afghanistan/Pakistan border known as the Solomon (Suleman) Mountain Range and the highest mountain in this range is known as Solomon’s Throne. Also, there is a mountain in this range called Sulaiman-too Mountain (Solomon-too), also known as Sacred Mountain.
How do we know this? There are 2 books on the ancient history of Afghanistan called Concise of Afghanistan and a Historical Society of Afghanistan book called Aryana or Ancient Afghanistan.
They both carry the story of ancient Israel’s King Solomon visiting the region during his reign. They tell the story of his journey around today’s Pakistan and Afghanistan and about King Solomon climbing to the top of the highest peak, Solomon’s Throne, in this mountain range that would later be named after him.
Another location named after or connected to King Solomon’s visit, is an ancient fortress called Takht-e-Soleyman, or Solomon’s Gate, and there is an ancient volcano known as Zendan-e-Soleyman, meaning “The Prison of Solomon.” It is located just 3 km. to the west of Solomon’s Gate.
This from the Encyclopaedia Britannica: There is a mountain named after the Queen of Sheba: Kūh-e Belqeys, or Mount Bilqīs. (Bilqīs was the name for the Queen of Sheba). Kūh-e Belqeys is located about 8 km. northeast of Takht-e Soleymān, Solomon’s Gate.
The City of Balkh (Afghanistan) travel guide magazines and the local Chamber of Commerce, say Balkh is known as “Solomon City” or “City of Solomon” after King Solomon! And before it was called the “City of Solomon,” it was originally called … “City of Lot”!
