He Leadeth Me

Thus saith the Lord, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the Lord thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.” (Isa. 48:17)
I was wondering what to write about this month as the world is so complicated and things are unfolding so quickly that I didn’t know what to say. I happened to find this little brochure called He Leadeth Me from The Association of the Covenant People when we were on Seymour Street in Vancouver years ago. I thought it fit very well with how I was feeling and hope that you like it too. When we trust in Him, He will lead us through all the turmoil. He is the way, the truth and the life. We have no fear when we follow Him.
He leadeth me.
In pastures green?
No, not always. In kindness
Leadeth me in weary ways
Where heavy shadows be;
Out of the sunshine
Warm and soft and bright,
Out of the sunshine
Into darkest night.
I oft would yield
To sorrow and to fright
Only for this:
I know He holds my Hand.
So, whether led
In green, or desert land
I trust
Although I cannot understand.
He leadeth me.
Beside still waters?
No, not always so.
Oft times
The heavy tempests
Round me blow,
And o’er my soul
The waves and billows go.
But when the stor
Beats wildest, and I cry
Aloud for help,
The Master standeth by
And whispers to my soul:
“Lo, it is I.”
Above the tempest
Wild I hear Him say:
“Beyond the darkness
lies the perfect day;
In every path
Of thine I lead the way.”
So whether on the hilltops,
High and fair I dwell,
Or in the sunless valleys,
Where he shadown lie
-what matter? He is there,
And more than this;
Were’er the pathway lead
He gives to me
No helpless, broken reed.
So where He leads me
I can safely go.
And in the blest hereafter
I shall know
Why in His wisdom
He hath led me so.
I thought this was very comforting. It is a time to draw close to God and follow Him and not the world. It is imploding and we do not want to be part of it. The above verses in Isaiah and the following verse in Psalm 139:23-24 were included in the brochure. “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” The time appears to be very short for when our Lord will be returning, and we must make ourselves ready! We can feel helpless at times as we know there is very little we can do ourselves to change the world but our strength is in prayer and supplication to the Lord.
The words of this little brochure really do say it all and as Psa. 46:1 says, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble”. Our Israel people are lost and broken but until they realize that they need to turn back to God things will not improve. God does work miracles and hopefully soon He will intervene on our behalf and we will call out to Him for help. May that day come soon as we need to follow Him, not this evil world system. To God be the glory!
