Distress Of The Nations
Luke 21:25
“And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;”
To me the above verse sounds just like what is happening in the world today. Peace, peace, there is no peace. Satan is dividing our nations and causing us to fight and argue amongst ourselves, which creates nothing but disharmony and chaos. There is so much conflict and uncertainty that people don’t know what to think or what to do and this of course causes anxiety. Through all of this we must, as Christians, stay calm and remember that God is with us and will help us through all the events to come.
I am writing this article at the end of March and I am sure by the time you get the magazine many more things will have happened but in the end we must remain grounded in the love God has for His Israel nations and will not destroy them. In the past He has worked many miracles to protect His people from being destroyed and we must rest in knowing that He will not abandon us in our time of need. We must remember that we are in a spiritual battle and so many things will be unclear to us but God is in control. We must put on the full armour of God to protect ourselves. “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” (Ephesians 6:10-13)
Right now there is so much going on that we do not even know who is making the decisions. Multiple events have been happening all over the world and we have no understanding of what the outcome may be. Our dear friend Allan Edwards in England mentioned this verse to me from Joel 3:14 and I found this quote online on bible.art/devotions, “The phrase {Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision} echoes through time, a potent reminder of the choices we face and the consequences that accompany them. In Joel 3:14, in the King James Version, we read: {Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.} This profound statement compels us to delve into what it means to stand in the valley of decision.” In this valley of decision what will the outcome be? That is the unknown question. Who are we to follow in this time of uncertainty and conflict? We must wait on the Lord and follow Him.
It seems we are always asking, “How long oh Lord?” but that is when we must have patience and that is hard in this time of distress and turmoil. The waiting is hard especially because of all the darkness around us. Luke 21:26-28 says this though, “Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.”
We must hold fast to our faith in God. He loves His people and our dear Lord and Saviour died for us and through His death and resurrection He gave us everlasting life. In the end the things of the world mean nothing and all that matters is our faith in Jesus Christ. Let’s pray that our Israel nations will wake up and come to the Lord before He returns.
