Troubles Coming?
“For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.” (Mark 13:8)
Are we in the beginning of troubles and therefore many sorrows? It certainly appears so doesn’t it? Matthew 24:7-13 says, “For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.”
I can’t help but believe that this is what is happening now. It seems especially since this COVID crisis that we have completely changed our behaviour. As a society we are now believing and doing things that we never would have put up with, even a year ago. Through this change many have suffered and there appears to be no end. It is interesting that in times past when we were in trouble we would automatically think to go to the churches for comfort and inspiration and prayer to help us through the hard times, but today the churches are pretty much closed and Christianity is under attack in many countries. Many of the elderly are shut up in their homes and cannot see their loved ones and this is especially sad at times when their lives are ending. I was just speaking to an elderly lady the other day whose husband was very ill, and she could not give him normal comfort. She was very distressed about the masks, etc. We have created a society where we now are suspicious of each other because of course you may have the virus and I must stay away from you!!! Sounds like the above “many shall be offended and betray one another and shall hate one another” doesn’t it. Then of course there is also the uncertainty of the vaccines and how trustworthy are they going to be when they become available!
There are many things happening to the earth as well that are very troubling. Just recently hot spots have been appearing in many areas around North America and some of them have been followed by small earthquakes. Is there movement happening underground? Google earth now and it shows that there could be many more small volcanoes around than we thought. Check dutchsinse.com or his videos on YouTube. Right now there is much activity especially around the Ring of Fire but also in many other areas as the earthquakes create an energy that travels in around the globe, through the tectonic plates and the fault lines. Hurricanes, cyclones, tornadoes, fires, floods, landslides, droughts, snowstorms, etc. are all happening with extreme force and frequency and unfortunately it appears they are only going to get worse. Many asteroids have been passing close to earth as well. Could these be the stars spoken of in Matt. 24:29, “Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:”.The name Aster comes from the ancient Greek word ἀστήρ (astḗr), meaning “star”. I think these verses from Deut. 31:16-18 describe what is happening to us today, “And the Lord said unto Moses, Behold, thou shalt sleep with thy fathers; and this people will rise up, and go a whoring after the gods of the strangers of the land, whither they go to be among them, and will forsake me, and break my covenant which I have made with them. Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall befall them; so that they will say in that day, Are not these evils come upon us, because our God is not among us? And I will surely hide my face in that day for all the evils which they shall have wrought, in that they are turned unto other gods.” We have abandoned our God and worship many other gods. Until we repent and go back to Him, who is the creator of all things and deserves our worship alone, we will live in a world that is full of more and more troubles. With all the events happening today we can only wait and see what comes next but we have these assuring words to hold on to from Psa. 34:15-22, “The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry. The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all. He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken. Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate.
The LORD redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.”
