Run to the Roar: A Christian Response to the Rise of the Unrighteous
In the past couple of years, we have started to see a new attitude and response to the problem of the moral breakdown of our society and schools. A growing number of Christians are committed to confronting the evils in our cities and counties rather than just running from it; in the words of historian David Barton, to literally “run to the roar.”
Barton, the founder of the Christian advocacy and education organization “Wall Builders” (www.wallbuilders.org), gave this example from nature: male lions and their female pride hunt together in tandem. The male will often stand at one end of a predatory field and let out his mighty roar, which causes their prey to panic and stampede in the other direction where they fall victim to a pride of female lionesses lying in wait. Many Christians in the human realm do the same thing when faced with trouble or opposition—they run the other way! Meanwhile our people, and especially our children, are being intimidated and harmed by the ungodly Woke crowd in the nation’s schools and government.
The Bible compares the wicked to a lion: “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” (1 Peter 5:8) But rather than fleeing before the wicked, we are advised, “Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.” (2 Tim. 4:17) The Lord is indeed effecting His promise to stand with us in the battle for truth and to deliver us from “the mouth of the lion,” but how few are obediently taking a stand against Satan’s fellow-travelers! Yet now an increasing number are thankfully standing up for righteousness and seeing results against seemingly insurmountable odds.
In Southeastern Michigan’s Oakland County, a parent named Elena expressed her disagreement with the Rochester Community Schools on social media, and soon learned that the school district had been monitoring internet sites and harassing parents who dared to express disagreement with their policies. The school contacted her employer and falsely claimed that she had made “threats” against the school. Her employer, afraid of being tarnished by association with an employee apparently making dangerous threats, then fired her. She fought back, hired a lawyer and sued the School Superintendent; the school district was forced to pay $188,750 to settle her federal civil lawsuit. Due to her fearless moral stand, the school’s illegal actions have ceased.
In Onaway in Northern Michigan, Erin, a mother of two children in the public schools, filed a lawsuit after a teacher verbally racially assaulted a White child. According to The Detroit News in a page one story published July 20, 2022, “While at Onaway schools…she noticed a visibly upset child…I heard other kids talking. They said a teacher had told him, ‘Your White privilege is showing,’ and the classroom laughed at him after he raised his hand and said he disagreed with something.” In addition, Erin was concerned about a hateful book by a black radical being used in the school and the very real possibility that it could engender racial animosity against White people. In response, the parent was approached with a search warrant for her cellphone and issued a “no trespass” order not allowing her on the school grounds. After hiring a lawyer and having the no trespass order lifted, the following day the school obtained “a warrant of felony eavesdropping” due to her visit to the school office. The newspaper report said, “If convicted, she would have faced up to two years in prison.” This was, of course, merely harassment meant to frighten her and stop her criticism of the school administrators. The newspaper reported, “the eavesdropping charge was dismissed…with Circuit Judge Aaron Gauthier citing that there was no evidence of a crime committed.”
The parent has filed suit against the school district. The newspaper article says, “According to the suit, she was targeted for her willingness to stand up and investigate the activities [at the school], as a concerned parent, at her son’s public school—which included questioning a class reading selection of a book on racism.”
The news report said further, “Many people don’t understand why she is pursuing legal action.” All too many parents are afraid to speak out and halt the illegal actions of a Woke school administration; it is easier to acquiesce and simply “go along to get along.” It is also easier to pull their children out of the public school instead of confronting immorality and injustice. When “Asked if she considered sending her son to another school, [the parent] said she was doing everything to save the school. ‘He is still there,’ she said. ‘I am fighting for this school.’”
Running from trouble and acquiescing to evil simply encourages the ungodly to even more trampling of our rights and liberties. It is “As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.” (Amos 5:19)
In Revelation 21:8 we are warned, “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” The “fearful” are first in the list of those to receive God’s punishment!
If the parent had simply pulled her children out of the school and switched to home-schooling, the Woke administration would have been unrestrained and unopposed in their psychological abuse of the remaining children in the school. Under the new “Critical Race Theory,” young White children are being taught that their ancestors, and America’s founding fathers, were evil slaveholders. They are told that they bear the guilt of their forefathers, even though the vast majority of White Americans today had no slaveholding ancestors. Much of this is hidden from parents, because the schoolchildren are often told not to tell their parents what they are being taught.
In contrast to the demonization of our ancestors in the “Critical Race” teaching, historians of the past taught our children to respect our elders and our ancestors. Sir John Arthur Ransome Marriott (1859-1945), author of over 30 books, said a century ago that even if all of the British colonies gained independence, “In fact the world would still be English. English in thought, in language, in law, even though those nations might no longer be connected with the mother-land.” (BOI 16:41) At the dawn of the twentieth century, Archbishop Fredrick W. Farrar (1831-1903) stated, “One issue is inevitable; in the centuries which lie before us the primacy of the world will lie with the English race; English institutions, English speech, English thought will become the main features of the political, the social, and the intellectual life of mankind.” (BOI 16:254) This has indeed happened, and it has been to the world’s benefit, not a matter of shame.
The well-known historian John Richard Green (1837-1883), author of over 30 books including “A Short History of the English People,” stated, “Every year proves more clearly that the spread of the English people is a great fact, and thus remaining, before half a century is over it will change the face of the world.” (BOI 16:253) American and British culture and institutions have done just that, and given Western nations the greatest liberty with the highest standard of living in the earth’s history.
Revelation 21:7 says, “He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.” Instead of being fearful of the ungodly, we—especially as the remnant of Jacob—are to be among those “that overcometh” evil and unrighteousness. The Prophet Micah (5:8) promised, “And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the Gentiles in the midst of many people as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of sheep: who, if he go through, both treadeth down, and teareth in pieces, and none can deliver.”
That was and is our destiny as His People!
