This may sound strange, even uncomfortable, but take the time to peruse this website beginning with this series of articles. It’ll be worth it.

Babble Language

TheTower of Babel

Before we begin the lesson on Babble Language, let me share the following with you of things actually said in court and “No, I’m not making this up”.

ATTORNEY: Doctor, how many of your autopsies have you performed on dead people?
WITNESS: All of them. The live ones put up too much of a fight.

ATTORNEY: Do you recall the time that you examined the body?
WITNESS: The autopsy started around 8:30 p.m.
ATTORNEY: And Mr. Denton was dead at that time?
WITNESS: If not, he was by the time I finished.

ATTORNEY: The youngest son, the twenty-year-old, how old is he?
WITNESS: He’s twenty, just like your IQ.

ATTORNEY: Now doctor, isn’t it true that when a person dies in his sleep, he doesn’t know about it until the next morning?
WITNESS: Did you actually pass the bar exam?

And finally, the icing on the cake from a book called Disorder in American Courts:

ATTORNEY: Doctor, before you performed the autopsy, did you check for a pulse?
WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY: Did you check for blood pressure?
WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY: Did you check for breathing?
WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY: So, then is it possible that the patient was alive when you began the autopsy?
WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY: How can you be so sure, Doctor?
WITNESS: Because his brain was sitting on my desk in a jar.
ATTORNEY: I see, but could the patient have still been alive, nevertheless?
WITNESS: Yes, it is possible that he could have been alive and practicing law.

Laughter is a language by itself that cheers our attitude—Turn to Job 8:21—(NIV) “He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy.” Language takes many forms in today’s society whether it be where we live, what we say, how we say things, what type of music we listen to, body language that we exhibit and the type of language that we exhibit to others in our everyday life.

Have you ever stopped to think when language began and whether countries throughout the world spoke one understandable language known by all or different dialects according to their country? Adam must have had an extensive knowledge of language for he named the animals and spoke with God.

Let me take you back to a time when the whole world had one language and a common speech. As you turn to Genesis 11 and read the first nine verses, you will be reminded of the tower of Babel. Here is a perfect situation where man again messed things up royally so he could build a massive city, a tower that reaches to the heavens, make a name for himself, and not be scattered over the face of the earth.

Since the earth’s population could speak one language, they thought, collectively that they could do all of the above to show God that nothing they plan to do would be impossible for them. But the Lord confused their language, scattered people all over the earth and stopped building the city and tower.

When I was a child, my grandmother would get after me for “babbling”—She said I made silly, meaningless sounds. How many times have you come upon a drunken person who babbles in his speech and makes no sense? To “babble” is to make idle, foolish, or non-sensical talk or chatter, according to Merriam-Webster Dictionary.

Has our society today come to the point of babbling? Yes—Like the folks at Babel who thought they could outsmart God and make a name for themselves. One thing I am reminded of—Don’t babble when you go to God in prayer—This is extremely important.

As I close, turn with me to Romans 1:18-31—Let’s begin with verse 18—The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claim to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.

Now go to Romans 1:25—They exchanged the truth of God for a lie and worshipped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

Romans 1:25 summarizes that people tend to believe lies or babblings that reinforce their own foolish personal ambitions and beliefs. Be very careful about what you say, how you say it and when and where you say it for any use of idle, foolish or non-sensical actions is babble.

The Bible is the only standard of truth so never exchange the truth of God for babble language from man.

May God Bless you and keep you safe in all that you do and say.
