There is a disturbing trend in these last days to diminish the glory of the Christian faith. Of course, it is a part of the one world initiative, one world government and one world religion. Some prominent Christians have taken the position that Christ is not the only way to God. In fact, on a recent interview with the CBC, a former British Prime Minister spoke of his faith, his conversion to the Roman Catholic church and his work to find common elements to the world’s religions to bring about a reconciliation and a unity among them. Even while...Read More

Psalm 46: 6, “The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved; He uttered His voice, the earth melted”. What a powerful statement!! For me, this explains Genesis 1: 2 where it says, “and the earth was without form and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” The word “melted” is defined in my dictionary as “liquefied by heat.” Now, we generally identify heat with fire and in this case the heat was extreme! But God started with a clean pallet and in six periods of time, restored the earth to perfection. It is our hope that we may avoid such heat anytime in the future. As we move through the Scriptures, we next encounter fire when Moses approaches the burning bush, because it is burning but not consuming the bush. As we know, God spoke to him out of the bush, telling him that he was standing on sacred ground. So, here we have fire that does not kindle or consume! We next encounter fire when the Lord used a column of fire to separate the fleeing children of Israel from the pursuing Egyptians. This certainly kept the Egyptian army at bay and could be described as protective fire. There is no doubt that the Egyptians regarded it as a consuming fire and a threat...Read More
As we stumble into the period referred to in the Bible as the last days (of this age) we wonder at how far our society has deteriorated in the past fifty years. Morality in our personal and business life seemingly has become a non-issue with lying and deceit occurring on a regular basis. It seems that, “the bottom line” in particular the material things in general become the objects of man’s affection and any means to attain them has become acceptable and gratifying. The fraudulent practices of big businesses like Enron and the big American banks caused a huge upheaval in American business, leading to recessions, which wash over our border into Canada. Believe in the Lord your God and so shall ye be established At such time, when we need to assess our own morality and teach our children, we are stricken with a great apostasy, shown in the declining numbers of church goers, and even within our own Israel organizations through aging and lack of recruitment of new members. So why is this happening? We do know that the falling away was prophesied by St. Paul but why have circumstances occurred which have caused this to happen? We are aware of Moses’ charge to the people to choose life and he specified just how they would prosper if they followed the laws of the Lord and showed...Read More
“O Lord, Thou hast searched me and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, Thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word in my tongue, but, Lo, O Lord, Thou knowest it altogether. Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid Thine hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it. Wither shall I go from Thy Spirit? Or whither shall I flee from Thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, Thou art there; if I make my bed in Hell, behold, Thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; even there shall Thy hand lead me and Thy right hand shall hold me. If I say, surely the darkness shall cover me: even the night shall be light about me. Yea, the darkness hideth not from Thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to Thee. For Thou has possessed my reins; Thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise Thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvellous are Thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.” Psalm 139:1-14 Over a...Read More
Editor: Our recently departed friend, Don Robson, loved this season of the year. Oh, like most, he enjoyed the family gatherings, the special dinner and visits from neighbours and friends. But, what made it special for Don was the greater closeness he perceived amongst everyone around him for the Lord Jesus Christ. Perhaps it wasn’t Jesus’ real birthday but when he listened to the many hymns played on radio or in the stores, or the music he so loved playing on his piano, including his own compositions, it brought him even closer to the Lord. Don wrote the following article for last December’s magazine but it was received too late for publication. Maybe it was for the best because it makes for a great parting message to all of us, as we come to the end of a frightful year. Once again the month of December arrives with its joyous season of Christmas and all the happiness associated with the birth of the Prince of Peace. Like Charles Dickens’ Scrooge, we would like to keep the mood and good cheer of Christmas all year long. This world, filled with iniquity and injustice, is not ready for peace and our Christmas hopes become dashed as we move through the celebratory days into the continuum of our despair. While the celebrations proceed, we are presented with our heritage of Christmas music...Read More
