Rick Coupland

The Apostle Paul wrote, “What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?” Long ago Rick Coupland recognized that our bodies are being neglected and are being filled with impurities, including great gobs of pharmaceuticals and he began to study nature’s way of healing. And he shares the fruits of his study with friends, associates and of course, the readers of his articles for Thy Kingdom come.

Rick is a busy man, in addition to his studies; he has been a computer teacher at a community college in Ontario for over twenty years. And he attends many conferences where the Israel Truth is taught.  He learned the message early in life, in fact, his father worked in the British-Israel-World Federation in the 1970’s and 80’s and they talked for hours on end  on Scripture matters. His column in our magazine is widely read and many readers write to tell us how it has done them so much good.

I always try to encourage people to engage in a healthier lifestyle. To me, being healthy starts with your diet, and it all begins by becoming aware of what you are putting in your mouth. Eating the right foods, the foods that God intended on us eating, will keep sicknesses away and help make you feel good about yourself. As your efforts towards a good diet increase, your craving for the sugary foods that we were all raised on will go away.

We should all become label readers when shopping for our groceries. If you are not used to checking products for their ingredients, it will shock you as to how much food we are consuming contains sugar, as its main ingredient. One can of pop or a milkshake from a fast food restaurant can contain as much as 16 cubes of sugar. Even the milk sold at schools for our children’s lunches has been flavoured with sugar. Both diabetes and obesity in Canada and the USA are at all-time highs, and both continue to increase at an alarming rate. This is in direct relation to the fact that the average person consumes over 150 pounds of sugar each year.

What would your definition be of the perfect food? Living in a world where “if it’s not ready in 5 minutes or less we don’t have time to eat it”, our perfect food would have to be something that’s ready to eat whenever we are hungry. It would be nutritious; in fact it would contain all of the vitamins and minerals that our body requires. We would have the fun of growing it ourselves, without ever having to go outdoors. And of course it would cost practically pennies per day to grow.

Well it just so happens God has given us this perfect food, and if you are new to sprouting, then this article is for you.

Growing sprouts is not something new to man. In fact many civilizations have been growing sprouts for thousands of years.

201211-couplandI have talked a bit about coconut oil in past articles, but the more I studied this super food, the more I felt it deserved an entire article on its own.

Many health benefits can be associated with the coconut, but it is its oil that sets it apart from all others. Dr. David Jockers of the Exodus Health Center writes, “Coconut oil is one of nature's most powerful forms of nutrition. Mothers' milk is considered the most perfect food on the planet for human consumption due to its ideal nutritional content and immune boosting compounds. The closest match in nature to mothers' milk is found within the coconut”.

Coconut oil is extracted from the meat of the coconut, known as the “copra”. This process can be attained using a variety of methods, and naturally, some are better than others. Quick drying the meat then pressing the oil out with a machine produces virgin coconut oil, the purest coconut oil possible. Another method is known as “wet-milling”, which allows the oil to rise to the top of the coconut milk, making it easy to separate. (Incidentally, when talking about coconut oil, “virgin” and “extra virgin” mean the same thing.)

Many years ago, we were told to avoid all saturated fats; they would lead to high cholesterol, obesity, heart disease and so much more. But there are natural saturated fats, and man-made ones (hydrogenation). Studies prove that people living in countries with a high intake of coconut oil are free of many of the diseases we were warned about.

From British Columbia: Dear Mr. Coupland: Is there a natural cure for sinus problems?

Dear BC:  Thanks for your note. Interestingly, a pastor from Northern Ireland asked me the same question two months ago and here is what I suggested.
If this is a recurring problem, I would seriously consider giving up milk and all other dairy products. Milk is one of the most mucus-forming foods, and I'm convinced it isn't meant for human consumption. (We get our calcium from green leafy vegetables .... not milk). I stopped drinking milk over 30 years ago, and my throat has never felt better. Your sinus problems could be a result of it.
