Don Robson

Jesus words, “For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required” can certainly apply to our senior correspondent, Don Robson. He has been showered with many blessings throughout life. He is a fine writer, his articles attest to this, yet music is his great passion and it has been expressed by playing hymns on the piano as a boy in Sunday school, at British Israel conferences and meetings, through compositions and a fifty year stint in the church choir.

Business beckoned him after obtaining his Chartered Accountant designation and until his retirement in 1992, spent 37 years with IBM, progressing through many financial positions, including project manager. Success followed him everywhere, even in his family life to which he is devoted. It’s easy to see that God certainly mapped out Don’s future, even acquainting him with the Israel Truth when he was still a teenager. His articles speak for themselves.

Recently, I was browsing the book of Jasher, looking through the story of Joseph. We all think of Joseph as a Christ-like figure and his rise from slave to prime minister in Egypt was astounding indeed. We also recognize that his life was programmed by God to accomplish His purposes and He provided Joseph with the tools for the job, especially the ability to interpret dreams.

2011-11-robsonWhen I began to write these articles, my first was, "Abraham, a Christian", because I was distressed that my church was referring to Abraham as a Jew. And why should this upset me? We are giving our Christian heritage over to the Jews, even though there was no such thing as a Jew in Abraham's day. In fact, one could make a better case for calling Abraham a Chaldean, since he was domiciled in the city of Ur in Chaldea. So, again in my church, I hear Moses and his forebears referred to as Jews.

Did Moses know Jesus?

So, who were the Jews? They were the exiles from the nation of Judah that were taken from Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar and returned seventy years later under the decree of Cyrus to rebuild the city and the temple. These Jews comprised a small part of the tribes of Judah, Benjamin and some of Levi. And we know their fate. After refusing to have Jesus reign over them, He told them the kingdom was taken from them and given unto a nation bringing forth the fruits. In 70 A.D., the Roman Titus came and destroyed Jerusalem and the temple, killing many Jews and scattering the rest. So it should be easy to accept that Moses, his grandfather Levi, and indeed Abraham existed long before Jews were known or so labelled.

Editor’s Note: In his accompanying comments, Mr. Robson had this to say: “Brooks, In a recent church bulletin, they conducted a survey where it was discovered that 75% of our clergy believe in God and for the rest, it depends on what we mean by God.  Lord, help us!” I often reflect on the words of the late Jim Read, our former president. He would say, “Many believe in God, but do not believe God.” This is so true, as the survey to which Mr. Robson refers. When theologians begin teaching false doctrine, it’s like the Apostle Paul said, “For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, who we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.” (2 Corinthians 11:4) So, such theologians convince baby Christians to accept the false doctrine they are preaching. All the churches are now inundated by such preachers and sadly, some false doctrine is now even seeping into our movement. The Apostle Paul said that the day of Christ would not come unless there first come a falling away. Well, as Mr. Robson points out in this excellent article, we are there!

“In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth.” “All things were made by Him and without Him was not anything made that was made.”

Recently, I have been reviewing books that I have read in the past and I find that the treatment by many scholars of the exile of Judah correctly defined the details while leaving the readers confused. I feel that this is an important issue because many look to the Jews of Palestine to fulfill the prophecies concerning Judah. The most important point of confusion is the expected union with Israel when Christ returns and His angels gather His people from the ends of the earth into His kingdom to rule with Him for a thousand years. It seems to me rather unlikely that a people who have denied Christ, the King of the Kingdom, for two thousand years will be given such a reprieve when Jesus said that many that call Him Lord will be told, “Depart from me, you that do iniquity; I never knew you.”
