In studying the Song of Solomon how many would think that his is only a book between a man and a woman, or would it be a place where man’s eye should be directed as in Solomon’s Song 2:16 “My beloved is mine, and I am his: he feedeth among the lilies” or So. 3:1-3 “By night on my bed I sought him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not. I will rise now, and go about the city in the streets, and in the broad ways I will seek him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not. The watchmen that go about the city found me: to whom I said, Saw ye him whom my soul loveth?” Here we have the watchmen seeking out Solomon; and Jesus said “broad is the way that leadeth to death, but narrow is the way that leadeth to life”. First, Solomon goes into the broad way, as have all that have have departed from their first love. It is Jesus that seeks the lost sheep, and has the power to save. So. 3:6 “Who is this that cometh out of the wilderness like pillars of smoke, perfumed with myrrh and frankincense, with all powders of the merchant?” Was it not Jesus that led them out of the wilderness with a pillar of smoke by day and didn’t the wise men bestow upon Him at his birth, gold, the power of the merchants, and myrrh and frankincense. Consider So. 6:6, “Thy teeth are as a flock of sheep which go up from the washing, whereof every one beareth twins, and there is not one barren among them”. Or, John 15:5, “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” Then, think of So. 2:14, “O my dove, that art in the clefts of the rock, in the secret places of the stairs, let me see thy countenance, let me hear thy voice; for sweet is thy voice, and thy countenance is comely.” Is not Jesus our hiding place in the clefts and didn’t God hide Moses in the clift of the rock? Ex. 33: 22&23 “And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by: And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.” (Strong’s Concordance, when using the word clift, also refers you to cleft)  2 Cor. 3:18 says, “ But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” In considering the Song of Solomon there are also many things that apply to our Israel heritage and without the knowledge of that heritage, most, if not all, would be left in the dark concerning its message. You can go through it yourself and check out things like, “O ye daughters of Jerusalem”, “my vineyard” and many more. For the love relationship goes both ways. So. 6:10 “Who is she that looketh forth as the morning, fair as the moon, clear as the sun, and terrible as an army with banners?” Didn’t Jesus refer to himself as being the seed of the woman? So, look at So. 6:9 “my dove, my undefiled is but one; she is the only one of her mother, she is the choice one of her that bare her. The daughters saw her, and blessed her; yea, the queens and the concubines, and they praised her.” Is not Jesus the only one that is undefiled with sin?

My friends, can you but begin to see here that the book of the Song of Solomon begins to testify of Jesus?
