The Lion of Judah and the Lamb of God

Many are the names and attributes of Jesus in the Scriptures, all indicative of His high office. In Genesis He is Shiloh, in Deuteronomy He is the Lord God, in the Psalms He is the Anointed, in Daniel He is the promised Messiah, In Zechariah Jesus is the Branch of Righteousness, In Isaiah He is Counsellor and Immanuel, in Matthew He is the Bridegroom and the Christ, in Mark He is the Holy One of God, in Luke our Lord is the Prophet, while in John He is the Resurrection. In the Acts of the Apostles, He is the Judge and in Timothy Jesus is the Seed of David and Mediator. In Ephesians Jesus is the Chief Corner Stone.

In the Book of Revelation our Lord is the Bright and Morning Star and the Lion of the Tribe of Judah and the Lamb of God.

The Lion of Judah has become over the centuries the cognizance of the people of Judah and thus a witness to the continuing existence of the nation of Israel. As the Lamb of God Jesus is the propitiation for our sins and by His shed blood the Redeemer of Israel.
