This month’s editorial is a slightly abridged Joseph Sproule editorial from our July, 1954 magazine. Mr. Sproule was the Secretary General of our Association for many years and a popular writer and radio host. In this editorial, he issues a warning to True Israel and as you read his comments, try to visualize how much headway the enemies of Christ have achieved in those 50 years and whether or not we are being sabotaged from within. Mr. Sproule quotes Isaiah, “Who is blind,” and this is sure evident today.
ARE YOU THE LORD'S SERVANT? I am sure every devout Christian would lay claim to his subservience to Jesus Christ and His cause; and yet Modern Christendom seems to have fallen over backward in its attempt to placate the enemies of Christ.
There are sinister forces at work in the world aimed at the complete destruction of the Anglo Saxon western World. This effort of sabotage is being carried out by the enemies of our Lord. They know (or rather think they know) that the cause of Christ can be wrecked if Anglo-Saxondom can be sabotaged from within and then destroyed from without, and by every pretext they are trying to do so.
Therefore it is all the more alarming to see, in the face of an approaching enemy, signs of spiritual decay everywhere manifest, and an apathy at a time when all Christendom should be alive to the dangers that confront the Christian World.
It seems increasingly hard to arouse people to a sense of awareness of these hidden dangers, that are so aptly described in God's Word, and of which we are constantly warned and it is our hearts desire and constant endeavour that true Israelites in particular should: “Study to show themselves approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth.” II Timothy 2:15.
To the cause of Truth therefore, this Association is devoted and the burden at all times that we bear is that, so many of the Lord's Servants are blind and deaf to God's prophetic purposes. In Isaiah 42:19 we read: “Who is blind, but my servant? Or deaf as my messenger, that I sent? Who is blind, as he that is perfect and blind as the Lord's servant?”
Although the bulk of true Christians believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, but few indeed study the Word of Truth in both Old as well as New Testaments and consequently the words of Isaiah should strike us, with double emphasis. Alas! Prophetically the Christian world and especially its teachers, are asleep or blind to the imminence of His coming, and the Battle of the Ages.
In the Apocrypha in II Esdras, we read portions from chapter 13: “Behold, the days come, when the most High will begin to deliver, them that are upon the earth. And he shall come (i.e. literally) to the astonishment of them that dwell on the earth. –And the time shall be when these things shall come to pass, and the signs shall happen which I shewed thee before. And then shall my Son be declared, whom thou sawest as a man ascending. –And this my Son shall rebuke the wicked inventions of those nations, which for their wicked life are fallen into the tempest. –And shall lay before them their evil thoughts, and the torments wherewith they shall begin to be tormented, which are like as a flame and he shall destroy them without labour by the law which is like unto fire. –Now when he destroyeth the multitude of the nations that are gathered together he shall defend his people that remain and then shall he shew them great wonders.”
Oh that the people might learn of God's grace and mercy and turn unto Him and read His Word and be made aware of these things before the Day of Wrath.
